Our Pets

Gizmo (“Gizzie”) is a Papillon who showed up on our front porch one night and “adopted” us. The poor girl was tired, hungry and in rough shape. After taking her to the vet we learned that she had been microchipped and the information on the chip traced her back to Missouri (this girl has come a long way). We are thinking that she had originally been obtained from a puppy mill and passed around from owner to owner.

Gizzie is a sweet, shy girl who, while enjoying affection, also likes a certain amount of independence. The one thing that excites this dog to a frenzy is FOOD!  Show her a treat or a “greenie” and she will be bouncing off the walls. This is a dog who has likely been searching for love and stability her whole life and we are happy to provide that for her now.

Button is a Calico who also “adopted” us after turning up on our back deck one night.  She is a very friendly and approachable cat who loves affection. This is the type of kitty who will often curl up next to you under the covers at night and lay her head on your arm as she goes to sleep... purring the whole time. Then in the morning she will gently paw your face until you wake up (best alarm clock we ever had). If there were one word we could use to describe Button, it would be “nice”. She never gets testy, never complains... this girl just rolls with it.

Nickel is a rescue cat that we adopted as a very young kitten after her mom was killed by a car.  She is an energetic kitty and is still very much in her “brat” stage!  More often than not when we see her she is rolling on he back with her mouth open -- ready to bite (in a playful manner, mind you). She also loves to steal our cheese and popcorn whenever we’re not looking.  But at the end of the day this girl is very affectionate and will often curl up at our feet for the night when we go to bed... and bite our toes of course.
