Policies & Procedures


Before using Top Dog’s services, an introductory visit will be necessary so that we can get to know you and your pets.  This visit also allows us to get detailed information about caring for your pets and pick up the key to your home.  At this appointment you will review and sign a contract agreement for my services.

  • We accept credit cards only for payment.
  • The main objective of this visit is to familiarize ourselves with your pets so that they are totally comfortable with us in your absence.
  • Payment for requested services will be due upon receipt of invoice.
  • Always confirm your reservations with us in person or on the phone.  We cannot accept a message left as a reservation.  This ensures that we won’t miss your message and your pets won’t be left alone.
  • All cancellations must be received 48 hours in advance of the scheduled service in order to receive full refund or credit. If canceling less than 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure, TDPS retains the full amount of this deposit. No refunds will be given for canceled visits once time has been reserved. For holiday visits, cancellations must be received one week in advance.
  • Please remember to contact us upon your return from your trip. Otherwise, we will need to continue visiting to assure the safety and well being of your pet(s) and charges will apply.
  • No more than 24 hours can elapse between visits.  We cannot skip visits or come every other day.  Minimum for dogs: 2 visits per day. Minimum for cats: 1 visit per day. This is to ensure that the animals are OK.  We will schedule visits based on the leaving and returning home date.
  • Only TDPS is allowed to care for your animals in your absence. We do not share or alternate visits with family members/friends/neighbors while you are away. This is to assure consistency in both the scheduling and optimum care of your pets while you are away.
  • Morning visits for dogs fall between the hours of 6 AM – 10 AM and evening visits between 6 PM – 10 PM. Visits for dogs will be made approximately 12 hours apart. Cats will be visited approximately the same time each day depending on schedule. If there is a need to schedule specific times please discuss this with us.
  • There will be a $10 delivery fee if TDPS needs to pick up supplies for your pet. Please remember to leave adequate (or more!) food, litter, etc for your pets needs.
  • HOLIDAYS- There will be a flat $10 fee in addition to regular charge for services ON the following holidays: New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.
  •  SECURED AREAS- It is the pet owner’s sole responsibility to pet-proof any areas of the home and/or property to which the pet has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates, latches, doors and other devices meant to keep a pet inside of or away from any areas that the pet may be having access to. TDPS does not assume and has no liability for any injuries the pet may sustain while in its own home/property.
  • In the event of personal emergency, illness, or injury regarding the pet sitter, another qualified individual will be scheduled to fulfill the responsibilities set forth in the service agreement.
  • KEYS – if keys are not kept with TDPS a pickup/drop-off fee of $10 will be incurred.  Failure to provide two keys will incur a $10 copying charge.
